"B" is for Bulb

SO I took these back in July and never posted them. Woops. The top one I especially like. It's of my mother at the end of the stairs. See her? She's the blur....
Oh and hello I guess I'm back. Kinda.
A la prochaine!

Books I must own...soon!

If I wasn't capable of reading a book a day I would be confident that that tiny list of seven books would last me through out the whole summer. As it is I've already finish two books, (in two days), and I'm going to start reading Black Girl in Paris tomorrow.

I was thinking about books I've read in the past and loved, but can't remember now. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou was one of those books. I read it in HS, and can remember nothing about it expect that I liked it. Last semester I read an essay from Sherman Alexie and fell in love with this author. Now I must have The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. When I was in JHS I read four books by Mildred D. Taylor They were wonderful but I forgot the names as soon as I finish them. I came across one of them at the $1 table at strand a while back and now I must own all four stories.
  1. Song of the Trees
  2. Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry (I own this one)
  3. Let the Circle Be Unbroken
  4. The Road to Memphis

Hopefully I'll be able to get these books soon. If I don't though there's a summary to The Road to Memphis on Wikipedia. =/

Until next time.

Sleep Don't Come Easy

These last couple of day here in NY have been mind numbingly hot! All I've been able to do is sit in bed, read, and sweat. I finished two of the books on that list, and since I'm trying to make the list last the summer I'm now re-reading Harry Potter #5.

Today was nice(I didn't sweat at all! WOOT!) and I got some stuff done for my hair. Did I mention that I turned my tumblr blog into a natural hair blog....no? Well check it out here! I'm getting into the habit of making things for my hair instead of buying them. I might have a mini business by the end of the summer.

Now about that portfolio I need to be doing. I'm ashamed to say I haven't worked on it since last Sunday when I went to Dumbo BK(view pictures in last post). I'm confined to my house because right now I literally can't afford to go anywhere, and I find it very hard to get inspired to do anything art wise at home. My home isn't inspiring. Ah well I know my success lies in my hands and that feels good to say! If I don't succeed it will only be my fault.

This turned out to be a rambling post. This is what happens when your clock gets turned around because of the humidity. Sleep deprivation at its lowest.

The Resistance

I've noticed this sign a couple of times on my way to yoga class, but never had my camera with me. I was a little early to class on Monday and was able to stop and capture this lovely message. I'm glad they didn't paint over it.

Things that help.

Thanks to this lovely lady I've found some nice hair styles to do in my (half relaxed/half natural) hair. I've been transitioning since late may. I watch the video above and ran into the bathroom with a tweezer and came out with nice results, if I don't say so my self. =)

This is my favorite hair style from her. Quick, easy, and classy

Is it a bumble bee?

Before school started back in August I took a trip to NJ to visit my father for his birthday. I notice this feeder hanging from a tree facing one of there windows that I found out was for Hummingbirds. I was crazy excited until I was told that the tiny birds are usually only see in the morning. I am not a morning person and I was leaving that night.

Luckily one of my brothers notice the birds(there were two) having a afternoon snack. I stayed by the window for about 5 minutes and caught this shot. This birds are very small and I would have swear it was just a very large bumble bee if I wasn't told other wise.

Randon Thought

I was wondering, while in the shower not so long ago, you know how people used to wash there...assets(lol) in lakes, streams, oceans etc. When and who thought of warming the water up first?? Because if I had to wash my ass(ets) in cold water I'd be one sticky Heifer!!

But seriously..who?

Its close to midnight

This is the first post from my Blackberry Curve. I'm writing this instead of calling or txting people that don't mean me any good. This is a good thing b/c I have been now to make rash decisions to ease the overwhelming feelings of loneliness and self doubt I some times feel.

So I'm just laying in bed waiting for sleep to takes its hold on me and drag me off to La-La land, writing about nothing....
Not my day
Not my photography
Nothing

Well here's something....

Funny
Sometime late year I was in union square when this crazy man came up screaming and talking about weed....he had such a good hustle. He'd let you take a picture of him....for money of course
People would try sneak a photo of him so they wouldn't have to give him money.....but he always caught them.

Gnight

Welcome to '09.

Been doing alot of reading and some Yoga. I'm content with myself though I know I can and will do better. 2008 has taught me to count on no one but myself, I have felt the pain of losing a friend and I have felt the heartache only a father can cause.
Been gallery hopping and loving every minute of it.
Hello 2009!

Wednesday.

So today started out good...
I was happy because I was going to see a friend of mine from my school
....a guy friend that I kinda have a crush on....:shrugs:
we hung out for a while went to 34th street after he got out of class.....then he had to work so I didn't get to spend that much time with him.
I have the bad habit of building people up in my head and when there not what I though they'd be.......I get disappointed and tend to lose interest in the person....I'm trying Very hard not to do that with him......
I like were his head is at.

Well after we separated I went to go see the bestie at her job, then made my way to 14th street.
On the way I had a slice of pizza for $1, which was yummy, I saw this two girls eating each others faces (a new experience) lol, I finally made it to 14th street went to Strand books and brought "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran. A very good book go buy it....or borrow it from the library.

That's all for know.

Peace.

Thoughtful

So what’s been going on?

I’m going through a very tuff time right now
It seems like I can only stay happy for a couple of hours before I remember all the shit that’s keeping me down. For one thing I would love to be in school right now but because of my mother I can’t be. A friend of mine asked me wasn’t I relieved to have some time off, to which I answered her Hell no! If the decision had been mine to not go back to school for a semester then fine, but I can’t go back because of something my mother didn’t do makes me highly upset!! I look around at all the people in my life and I feel like a failure….either they have some kind of degree already or there in school and all I’m doing is sitting on my ass. In September I will be out of one of my jobs. Until I find a new one I’m going be taking as many photo’s as possible! Photography has always been my way of cooping with my depression.

Random photo's I found in my computer just when I was thinking about giving up the one thing I love. Seriously photography is one of the best things I can do. Moving on. I found a new book that I love thanks to my friend Here (insert note: I find it funny that I call this girl my friend when we've never meet face to face....we've never even talked on that phone we've only comunicated via the computer.....aww the internet lol :end note)
Any way check out here blogger.
Ohh and the book. Its called The Alchemist. Read it!!!!
