Keep a Poem in Your Pocket

I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul....
I find myself saying those words in my head over and over again.
I can get trapped in my head thinking I can't change anything about my circumstances.
But really that's the farthest thing from the truth.
It is true that I can't change people, but I have total control over ME.
I have total control over my environment.
I have total control over how I think, how I feel, and how I let people make me feel.
If there's something I don't like then its up to me to make/be the change to something better.
"Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul."
